Cloud DX Inc (CVE:CDX) (OTCQB:CDXFF) announced it is teaming up with two Ontario hospitals to reduce the surgical backlog due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Canadian technology company is working with Hamilton Health Sciences and St Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton on a “virtual command centre” supported by Cloud DX. The virtual command centre will provide patients with a dedicated hospital-to-home care team using Cloud DX’s Connected Health technology, which is used by healthcare enterprises and care teams across North America to virtually manage chronic disease, enable aging in place and deliver hospital-quality post-surgical care. READ: Cloud DX commences trading on the OTCQB Venture Market The pandemic has caused a backlog of close to 419,000 elective surgeries and 2.5 million diagnostic tests, according to Ontario’s Financial Accountability Office. Both Hamilton Health Sciences and St Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton are facing a backlog of around 11,300 surgeries, Cloud DX said in a statement. With Connected Health Kits now deployed, both hospitals can service approximately 2,000 patients per year, the company added. “As a result of COVID-19, and the necessary measures to increase capacity, HHS postponed over 5,600 non-urgent/non-emergent procedures since April 12,” Dr PJ Devereaux, cardiologist and perioperative care physician at Hamilton Health Sciences, said in a statement. “HHS is still in the process of ramping up surgical procedures, so this program provides a mechanism to facilitate more patients receiving timely surgery.” The virtual care program runs seven days a week for 14 hours a day. Virtual care nurses can conduct video visits and review vital signs, survey results, surgical wound pictures and pain assessments as well as making critical medication error corrections, Cloud DX said, and suggest further care from a physician if necessary.
