Missouri House Republicans designate next speaker

A Des Peres Republican has been chosen as the next Missouri House speaker. House Majority Leader Dean Plocher on Tuesday was chosen by the House Republicans as their pick to succeed Speaker Rob Vescovo, the Associated Press reports. Vescovo, R-Arnold, can't run again because of term limits and will exit in early 2023. The full state House must vote to approve the appointment during the 2023 session.
