Albertsons in talks to acquire Sprouts Farmers Market

Albertsons is reportedly in early discussions to merge with organic grocery chain Sprouts Farmers Market. The deal would take the Phoenix-based Sprouts private and add it to the Albertsons’ portfolio, according to Bloomberg. The Boise, Idaho-based Albertsons currently owns its own eponymous grocery stores and the Safeway store brand. The Sprouts acquisition talks are in the early stages and may not result in a deal.
