Amazon to acquire Whole Foods Market in $13.7 billion deal

Amazon is acquiring Whole Foods Market Inc. in a deal valued at $13.7 billion, the companies announced Friday morning. Under the agreement, Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) will acquire Whole Foods Market for $42 per share in an all-cash transaction, that includes Whole Foods Market’s net debt. “Millions of people love Whole Foods Market because they offer the best natural and organic foods, and they make it fun to eat healthy,” said Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, said in a corporate statement announcing the…
