Billionaire Tilman Fertitta closes on $2.2B deal to buy Houston Rockets

Local billionaire Tilman Fertitta officially owns the Houston Rockets and Clutch City Sports and Entertainment, the NBA team announced in an Oct. 6 press release. The NBA Board of Governors unanimously approved Fertitta as the Rockets’ new owner on Oct. 5. Fertitta bought the team from Les Alexander for an NBA record $2.2 billion, surpassing the $2 billion that Steve Ballmer paid for the Los Angeles Clippers in 2014. “Leslie has left an indelible mark on Houston sports history,” Fertitta…
