South India and east/northeast India experienced extreme heat in April, breaking records. Cities like Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Mumbai saw high temperatures. The entire South recorded an average maximum temperature of around 37.2 degrees Celsius and Bengaluru witnessed its hottest April. The heat wave is expected to continue in eastern India till May 2.
