The United Brotherhood of Carpenters Supports Nomination of Elaine Chao for Secretary of Transportation

Las Vegas, Nevada (PRWEB) December 01, 2016

The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America (UBC,) representing over 500,000 members, announced their support of President-elect Donald J. Trump’s nomination of Elaine Chao for Secretary of Transportation. The UBC enjoyed a strong working relationship with Chao in her previous posts - both as Secretary of Labor and as Deputy Secretary of Transportation. With Chao’s long history of public service and vast experience with transportation issues, the UBC is optimistic about the newly appointed head of the Department of Transportation.

“Secretary Elaine Chao is a person with integrity and experience,” said Douglas J. McCarron, General President of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. “We had a successful working relationship with her as Secretary of Labor and we look forward to working with her as Secretary of Transportation to bring America’s infrastructure into the 21st century.”

The Carpenters Union understands that infrastructure work not only provides jobs immediately, but provides a long-term boost to the economy. UBC members utilize their superior training and skills on various infrastructure projects, like the roads, bridges, power plants and other jobs that keep the US economy running. The UBC leverages its 135-year history to prepare for the future by training, educating, and representing the next generation of construction professionals.
