Moscow test fires missiles, practising retaliatory nuclear strike

Russian President Vladimir Putin oversaw ballistic missile drills where forces practiced a "massive" retaliatory nuclear strike. This comes after Moscow moved to revoke a key nuclear test ban treaty and has given mixed signals about the possible use of nuclear weapons in the past. The drills included the firing of ballistic missiles from the Russian Far North and the Barents Sea, as well as the participation of long-range planes. Russia also said it would study US proposals to resume dialogue on nuclear arms control.
