A military jet fighter crashed in Myanmar's eastern state of Kayah, with conflicting reports on whether it was shot down or crashed due to technical failure. The ethnic armed group, the Karenni Nationalities Defense Force, claimed responsibility for shooting down the plane during heavy fighting near Loikaw, the capital of Kayah state. Myanmar has seen the rise of resistance groups since the military seized power in February 2021. The conflict has driven thousands of people from their homes.
