Virgin Atlantic completes London-to-New York flight using 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), showcasing low-carbon options and emissions reduction. The high cost and tight supply of waste materials needed for SAF production make large-scale production difficult. SAF currently accounts for less than 0.1% of global jet fuel usage. The flight, operated by a Virgin Boeing 787, is the first commercial airliner to fly long haul on 100% SAF.
