Which famous billionaire has toppled 92 places down the Forbes Rich List? Take a guessby

The Forbes Rich List is a regular affair which takes into account the wealthiest and most influential businesspeople in the US – it’s often a chance to see who the movers and shakers are from one year to the next, and to see who has the capital to take that seemingly unachievable mantle – America’s richest person. That honor, once again, goes to Bill Gates – he’s worth a reported $89 billion – with Amazon’s Jeff Bezos following behind, having briefly become the world’s richest for all of a few minutes earlier this year. Gates, however, has clung onto the mantle for considerable years – and his altruistic tendencies have never done his image or credibility any harm, either.

One super-famous billionaire who previously sat at #156 on the Rich List last year has seen his fortune crumble a little – though likely for good reason – as he now comes in at #248 on the 2017 Rich List. The billionaire in question is, of course, Donald Trump.

President Trump has been focusing his energy – and tweeting – on the running of the country since his inauguration earlier this year – meaning it may not be too surprising that his personal fortune has taken something of a bite in recent months. His fortune is thought to have fallen by 31% across two years, with the statesman now worth $3.1 billion, down from $3.7 billion in 2016 and $4.5 billion in 2015. It’s been noted that Trump asserted, during campaigning, that he was worth at least $10 billion – but Forbes, ever ready to show just who has the most pennies year in, year out, was quick to burst that bubble – rather publicly.

Forbes proposes that the drop in wealth for the President seems to stem from his real estate empire in Manhattan, and that the value of some of his holdings have shrunk in price over the past few months. It’s completely plausible – though how Trump himself will react to having fallen down the ranking to #248 is anyone’s guess. The Forbes Rich List is an annual event for anyone interested in entrepreneuring and learning about what makes the mega-rich, well, mega-rich. For others, it’s a chance to see who’s doing well, and who may be starting to feel the pinch. Despite Trump’s slight decrease in wealth, he is still among the richest in the world – and on top of this, he’s running a country, to boot.
