A baby has died after being left in a hot car at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Alabama, according to authorities.  WHNT reports that the 7-month-old was recovered by emergency personnel on Wednesday at 4:42 pm shortly after a call about the child was made.  The temperature around Huntsville reached a high of 94 degrees that afternoon, notes CBS News.  Jennifer Stanfield, a NASA spokesperson, has since issued a statement, saying, “Early reports indicate that the parent intended to drop the child off at the childcare center and instead went straight to work.  Names are being withheld out of respect for the family and pending all appropriate family notifications.”  She also indicated that the parent, who has since been identified as the father, works for NASA. The FBI is reportedly leading this investigation because the flight center is located on a federal installation called Redstone Arsenal.
