Transcript: Melania Trump Calls For Halt to Charlottesville Violence as President Condemns It

First Lady Melania Trump is urging calm amid the violent clashes that have erupted between far-right groups and counter protestors Saturday at a “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia .

She Tweeted… "Our country encourages freedom of speech, but let's communicate w/o hate in our hearts," the first lady tweeted. "No good comes from violence." The First Lady’s call to halt the violence comes as Governor Terry McAuliffe declared a state of emergency and police are ordering protesters to leave Emancipation park in the city President Trump condemning the violence also tweeting, We ALL must be united & condemn all that hate stands for.

There is no place for this kind of violence in America.

Lets come together as one!

The chaos comes just a day after White nationalists gathered with torches and marched through the University of Virginia The “unlawful assembly” as city officials declared it, had been called to protest the city's decision to remove the statue of the Confederate general Robert E Lee who commanded the pro-slavery Confederate forces in the US Civil War.

Charlottesville Mayor Mike Signer responding to the President following the violence.. “Donald Trump, thanks, at long last, for condemning hate in speech and action.
