Misty Copeland Says Work Keeps Her Sane at Tribeca Film Festival Premiere of Her New Film Flower

American Ballet Theatre Principal Dancer, mother, wife, activist, and actor/producer Misty Copeland premiered her latest work, Flower , a 28-minute art-activism film for the Tribeca Film Festival at Spring Studios in New York City Thursday.

The cast and legendary choreographers Rich + Tone Talauega, who worked on the project, came out to see the film along with Chris Rock.

Flower is a poignant take on community, belonging, and intergenerational equity, directed by Lauren Finerman, in which Copeland stars and serves as producer.

This film also marks the return to performance for Copeland after a multi-year hiatus.

How does Misty balance being a new mom, performer, and producer while keeping her mental health in check?

'I have an amazing support system...I wouldn't be in this position without the mentors that I have.

My incredible husband," she said.

"It's all working towards the same goal to make ballet and dance more accessible and to make people feel that this is a world they can be a part of and should be a part of.'
