Investigation launched after terror suspect’s prison escape

The government is embroiled in an argument over prison security after 21-year-former soldier Daniel Abed Khalife escaped from HMP Wandsworth.

According to reports, Khalife went missing at 8am on Wednesday morning dressed in his cook’s prison uniform.

Passengers have been warned to expect delays as security checks have now been ramped up at major transport hubs across the country.

Following the incident Justice Secretary Alex Chalk said in a statement to the House of Commons that several urgent reviews would also take place regarding the categorisation and placement of all HMP Wandsworth prisoners and all those in custody charged with terrorism offences.

Labour has said that the prison escape is part of a much wider problem within government and that grave questions must be asked over what went wrong.

Police have asked members of the public to come forward with any information relating to the whereabouts of Khalife who they believe will attempt to flee the country.
