Kim Hyok-chol, a top diplomat of North Korea, was reportedly executed at Mirim Airport, Sadong-guyok, Pyongyang in March 2019. The report by the South Korean newspaper The Chosun Ilbo claimed that he and another four officials were executed in the aftermath of the failed Hanoi summit while some other participants, among them Kim Yong-chol, were sent to reeducation camps. The report that was published in May 2019 remains unconfirmed and unsupported by other sources. The DPRK has not declared that Kim Hyok-chol has been executed.
