Columbia Gas parent company faces criminal probe over gas explosions

The parent company for Columbia Gas of Massachusetts disclosed Thursday that it is facing a criminal investigation related to the Merrimack Valley gas explosions in September. The investigation is being led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts, NiSource Inc. (Nasdaq: NI) said in a regulatory filing. The Indiana-based company and its Columbia Gas of Massachusetts subsidiary were served with grand jury subpoenas on Sept. 24, 11 days after the explosions occurred, according to the U.S.…
