Oracle co-CEO Mark Hurd dies at 62, remembered as fierce competitor and 'self-made success'

Oracle Corp. co-CEO Mark Hurd died early this morning, weeks after taking a medical leave of absence, the company confirmed to the Silicon Valley Business Journal. He was 62. Hurd is survived by his wife Paula Kaluza and two adult daughters. The Redwood City-based software giant announced his medical leave on Sept. 11. He shared the chief executive role with co-CEO Safra Catz. Hurd, who was paid $108.3 million last year, previously served as CEO of Hewlett-Packard for five years until 2010. In…
