The two-term mayor and longtime labor leader is President Joe Biden’s pick for labor secretary. His hearing, before the Senate’s Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, is scheduled for 10 a.m. If Walsh’s nomination clears the committee, it will go to the full Senate, and a vote could happen quickly, as senators move through Biden’s list of Cabinet nominees. Pete Buttigieg, the former mayor of South Bend, was confirmed as transportation secretary on Feb. 2, after the Senate Commerce Committee approved his nomination on Jan. 27.
