Ginkgo Bioworks' food-focused spinout raises $226M to get products on the table

Since its founding in early 2019, Motif FoodWorks has been tinkering with ways to engineer plant-based foods so they more closely mirror traditional animal-based ones: tweaking texture to mimic the pull of melted cheese, beefing up the nutrients in plant-based milk so it's as nutritional as cow's milk. Now, armed with an eye-popping $226 million in new funding, Motif is ready to get its products on the dinner table.
