Thought Leader Forum: Navigate the Path to Racial Equity: Turning Good Intentions into Real Progress

Following the murder of George Floyd, many in the business and nonprofit communitiesmade a pledge to fight for racial equity within their own organizations as part of a renewed social justice movement. On May 25, the one-year anniversary of Floyd’s death, Ryan Lambert, editor in chief of the Puget Sound Business Journal, moderated adiscussion with Puget Sound leaders about commitments they’ve made to further diversity and inclusion initiatives within their own organizations and discuss specific steps they have taken to turn good intentions into real progress. The speakers were Richard Bynum, chief corporate responsibility officer for PNC Financial Services Group; Laura Clise, founder and CEO of Intentionalist; Jonah Edelman, co-founder and CEO ofStand for Children and co-founder of Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) Black Equity at Work Certification; Zabrina Jenkins, senior vice president, deputy general counsel for Starbucks; and Angela Jones, CEO of Washington STEM. The program began with an introduction from Antonio Mason, senior vice president of PNC Bank.
