Fortnite to Introduce a 'Creative' Mode – Leaked Video Footageby 👩‍💻 Alice Monroe

Fortnite continues to be one of the biggest gaming phenomenons of recent times, having took several consoles and platforms by storm earlier this year and having added millions of new players to its online roster by the month.

To say it is more than just a craze is putting it mildly – the buzz around the battle royale game has been just as strong as initial buzz was around other online titans such as Minecraft back in the day. Minecraft, too, remains hugely popular – and according to recent leaked video, it appears that Fortnite will be taking a leaf out of that game’s book in order to encourage its players to become more creative.

According to Eurogamer, video footage believed to have been reserved for the Game Awards on December 6th was leaked ahead of time – and while it can no longer be seen without mirror links, it has created some incredible buzz. The video in question offered players a glimpse at what will be referred to as Creative mode, which will allow gamers to create their own levels, landscapes and games completely separately to the main battle royale arena. While Fortnite already has a playground feature where you can build and experiment, Creative mode looks to up the ante considerably – potentially extending the lifespan of the already popular title even further.

Much like Minecraft’s own creative suite, Fortnite Creative will allow you to freely move across landscapes and to add and remove various game elements to create your own maps and levels. You’ll then be able to load your own custom maps for private games and online deathmatches – and what’s more, you won’t have to clean up afterwards, as everything will be set back in place as you had originally intended. Therefore, it’s safe to say that you will be able to have a genuine blast wrecking everything in sight.

The Creative mode is going to be ideal for building enthusiasts – the main game modes already allow you to build your own strongholds while surviving in Fortnite’s wilds – and it appears that a release date may be set for December 7th. With the leak having given the game – or at least the mode – away, it seems that a big surprise has been let out of the bag early. In any case, the arrival of Creative mode should extend the appeal of the game for millions for longer.
