The First Trailer for 'Venom' Has Emerged – with Something Massive Omittedby

Certain comic book properties are, believe it or not, still retained beyond the likes of Disney, Marvel and DC – and while some of these prove to be extremely popular (Deadpool, while Marvel, was released outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Disney in 2016), they can sometimes get things a little off-balance. You only need to look at the dismal relaunch of Fantastic 4 a few years ago to understand why so many people trust Disney/Marvel and DC over third parties – but work continues to press on with Venom, which promises to not only be the first-ever Spider-Man spinoff, but also the first movie to solely focus on a comic book villain. With Tom Hardy in the lead role as Eddie Brock, it should promise to be an interesting watch – even if it doesn’t fit in so neatly with the rest of the cinematic universes which are currently doing the rounds.

Venom is due for release in theaters later this year, in fall, meaning that there’s a long road of anticipation ahead – and to quench thirst for the movie this winter, a teaser trailer has already debuted – with a few teases at the monster Brock is set to become in his first full-length outing on his own (the character appeared briefly as a hidden villain in the original Spider-Man 3, alongside Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker). However, fans have been quick to point out a major flaw in proceedings – while this trailer is, of course, only set to tease fans, we don’t so much as get a look at Venom in all his glory. This can be perceived to be rather infuriating – however, it does sort of make sense – as it only serves to fuel the mystery and the intrigue even further!

The concept of a super villain movie is one which has been tantalising people for a while now – and Sony are supposedly hard at work making sure that Tom Hardy brings a new kind of comic book flair to the big screen. Those who remember Spider-Man 3 will likely be chomping at the bit to see Venom given his own story at last – though, at present, it will run completely separate to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. When the movie does finally land, it will likely be compared to all of the big superhero movies that have come before it – and with Black Panther, Aquaman, Ant-Man and The Wasp and Infinity War all due to land this year, there’s never been a bigger year for comic book fans.
