PM Modi thanks people of Tamil Nadu for their warmth, hospitality showered during Mamallapuram summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 10 during inauguration of 750 MW Solar Project via video conferencing said solar energy is the medium of energy needs of the 21st century. "Not just for the present, solar energy will be a medium of energy needs of the 21st century because solar power is sure, pure and secure," said Prime Minister after dedicating to the nation the 750 MW Solar Project set up at Rewa, Madhya Pradesh.

A team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers arrived in Tamil Nadu's Madurai. They arrived at Madurai Airport on July 10. CBI will take over the probe in Thoothukudi custodial death case. The CBI had taken over the investigation on July 07 into the deaths of P Jeyraraj and his son J Benicks who died allegedly after being tortured in police custody in Tamil Nadu's Tuticorin. The Centre had issued a notification accepting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's request to transfer the probe to the CBI.
Informing about the weather update, Deputy Director General of Meteorology, IMD (Chennai) Dr S Balachandran, said moderate rainfall is expected in next 48 hours in Tamil Nadu. "During last 24 hours, fairly widespread rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry region. Next 48 hours over Tamil Nadu light to moderate rainfall is expected. "While, North Tamil Nadu and some interior districts of TN will receive heavy rains," he added.
A Wild jumbo entered residential area at AKS colony in Mettupalayam on July 10. Mettupalayam is located on the outskirts of Coimbatore. Operation to drive away the jumbo to the forest area is still underway.
INS Jalashwa to bring back stranded Indian nationals from Sri Lanka amid COVID-19 pandemic. While talking about the evacuation, Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Gopal Baglay said, "INS Jalashwa will be taking back about 700 Indians to their homes that were stranded here due to COVID-19. This is not the first voyage of this ship, it has been on sea for continuous stretch of time. We thank Indian Navy for its service". He also thanked the Government of India, Tamil Nadu Government and Sri Lankan Government for making the repatriation process successful. He said, "We also thank the Government of India, Tamil Nadu Govt and various ministries who have worked tirelessly to make this possible and of course Sri Lankan Government".
