In move to limit federal oversight of police, Seattle cites its hard work, need to focus on coronavirus

The city has asked U.S. District Judge James Robart to find it has successfully completed a two-year review period to assure Seattle police reforms have taken hold. If granted, the city could then ask the judge to free it from federal oversight imposed in a 2012 consent decree with the Department of Justice.
