8-year-old collects night-lights for kids in foster care
Tuesday, 27 August 2019 A little girl in Arkansas is on a mission to brighten the lives of other kids across the state. Eight-year-old Amelia Lisowe, has given out more than 500 night-lights for children in foster care. She hopes to make them feel more at home.
Experts who run the US COVID Atlas say many current COVID-19 hotspots across the country are in areas along state borders. They say that's because different governments have taken different approaches to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus. This includes regions in Arkansas and Tennessee, as well as Louisiana and Mississippi, which are effectively separated by the Mississippi River.
Coronavirus cases and hospitalizations are spiking in parts of California and the U.S. Southwest, prompting Arizona to reactivate its emergency plan for medical facilities and California to place counties where half its population lives on a watch list. Jillian Kitchener has more.
