In a call with reporters Wednesday Gates said it's "almost hard to deny" the conspiracy theories surrounding him and vaccines "because it's so stupid." Misinformation has been circulating claiming that Gates is behind a plot to use vaccines to implant microchips in people. A Yahoo News/YouGov poll shows that 28% of Americans wrongly believe this.

These Republicans think Gates wants to implant location-tracking microchips into people through the vaccines. President Donald Trump said he’s “very confident” a coronavirus vaccine will be done by the end of 2020. According to Business Insider, experts predict a vaccine will take 12 to 18 months to develop.
