"48 Hours" goes inside the investigation of infamous "Hollywood Ripper" serial killer

In October, jurors in Los Angeles will consider whether to give the serial killer known as the "Hollywood Ripper" the death penalty. Michael Gargiulo was convicted of committing a string of brutal attacks on young women, and the case is the subject of a special two-hour season premiere of "48 Hours." Correspondent Maureen Maher joined "CBSN AM" to discuss how she helped break the case wide open.
