New York (CNN Business) Becoming the latest of many retailers to declare bankruptcy during the coroanvirus pandemic, department store Lord & Taylor has filed for Chapter 11. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Sunday, according to court documents. The bankruptcy comes almost a year after fashion rental subscription service Le Tote, Inc. bought the company for $75 million. Before that, Hudson's Bay Company acquired Lord & Taylor in 2012.

(Newser) – A white woman who called police on a birdwatcher in New York City's Central Park on Memorial Day will be charged in connection with that call. Christian Cooper, a 57-year-old Black man and member of the New York City Audubon Society board of directors, asked Amy Cooper to leash her dog per the regulations of the area of the park where she was located, reports ABC News. She then called 911 and repeatedly said just that.
Jocelyn Tsai adopted a mixed-breed dog, Archer, from the Animal Care Centers of NYC. The shelter's foster supervisor, Julia Lubbock, said thousands of New Yorkers have wanted to foster and adopt animals.
