Approximately 25,000 National Guard troops were sent to Washington, D.C., to provide security for President Biden's inauguration after a violent mob assaulted the Capitol while Congress was counting electoral votes. Officials said Monday that about 13,000 troops remain in the district, a figure that will drop to 7,000 by the end of the week and then remain at 5,000 into March.
