Mueller Investigation Finds No Trump-Russia Collusion: Attorney General Reports

Mueller Investigation Finds No Trump-Russia Collusion: Attorney General Reportsby 👩‍💻 Stephanie Boyd

One of the most momentous points in Donald TrumpsUS Presidency has come to pass this weekend. With the handing in of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report into the Trump campaign’s alleged collusion with Russian personnel during the 2016 General Election, it seems that one saga could be drawing to a close. The report, according to Attorney General William Barr’s disclosure, finds that neither Trump nor his team conspired with Russia. CNN reports, however, that this may not be the end of the matter.

The report, as detailed by Barr, also does not conclude whether or not Trump committed a crime as far as obstructing justice is concerned. The key takeaway for many people, it seems, is the fact that Trump is not ‘exonerated’ from such allegations in Mueller’s findings. That, at the very least, will likely propel Trump critics to request further details. It is unclear whether or not Mueller’s full report will be made public, but senior Democratic staff have previously advised that they will fight for full disclosure.

Trump’s team, however, are claiming the weekend’s revelations to be a victory. The President himself claimed the report offered a ‘complete and total exoneration’, though, as stated, his innocence with regard to obstructing justice remains up in the air.

“It was just announced there was no collusion with Russia,” the President confirmed to reporters. “There was no obstruction, none whatsoever.”

“It was a complete and total exoneration. It’s a shame our country had to go through this. To be honest, it’s a shame your President had to go through this.”

“This was an illegal takedown that failed and hopefully someone’s going to be looking at the other side,” he stated.

Neither Mueller nor his team reportedly have any plans to issue indictments beyond those already submitted. The investigation reportedly found that the actions of Trump were not ‘done with corrupt intent’, according to Barr’s report on Mueller.

Democrats continue to state that Mueller’s report should be made fully public, and that such evidence used should be granted to Congress. It’s being considered whether or not such matters should be taken to court via subpoena.

“In light of the very concerning discrepancies and final decision making at the Justice Department following the Special Counsel report, where Mueller did not exonerate the President, we will be calling Attorney General Barr in to testify before (the House Judiciary) in the near future,” House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nader tweeted.

While the report seems to finally be in – it appears the saga may be rolling on for a little while longer.
