Police, soldiers deploy in Zimbabwe's Bulawayo as opposition challenges protest ban
Monday, 19 August 2019 Soldiers and police deployed in large numbers in Zimbabwe's second city Bulawayo on Monday to enforce a ban on an anti-government demonstration, as the country's main opposition party sought to overturn that decision in court.
Police fired tear gas and beat opposition party supporters who had gathered in downtown Harare on Friday in defiance of a ban on anti-government rallies. The MDC party has called the government "fascist." Serena Chaudhry reports.
