Canada's SNC-Lavalin unit pleads guilty to fraud charge in Libya case
Wednesday, 18 December 2019 A division of SNC-Lavalin Group Inc pleaded guilty to one fraud charge and will pay a C$280 million fine related to projects in Libya, the company said on Wednesday, in a case that engulfed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's government in crisis.
Reuters reports Michael Avenatti pleaded not guilty on Tuesday.
He's been indicted for trying to extort as much as $25 million from Nike Inc,
Avenatti allegedly threatened to go public with claims the company made improper payments to athletes.
