Hall of Fame second baseman Bobby Doerr passed away this week at the age of 99.

Doerr, dubbed the "Silent Captain" of the Boston Red Sox by fellow baseball Hall of Famer Ted Williams, had been the oldest living major league player.

Doerr, who had a .288 lifetime average played 14 seasons with the Red Sox and was a nine-time All-Star.

He finished his career with 2,042 hits, 223 home runs, 1,247 RBIs and once went 414 games without an error..
