It started off a little bit up and down at the beginning of the season and then you know as we got into the middle stage is when we were the most consistent and then the last few races obviously just really kind of capitalising, maximising on every single weekend, that's what we've been trying to do so I would say that's really where it's been." 2.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS DRIVER, LEWIS HAMILTON, SAYING: "Well I never arrive anywhere with expectations, I just try to be prepared the best way we can.

The guys have worked incredibly hard to see if we can eke a little bit more potential out of the car and so yeah, I'm excited and I love this track, the street circuit is incredible and I'm really hopeful this year the car is better then it was, has been in previous years.

In previous years it's really been tough years for us and you know Ferrari and other teams have been particularly quick so I'm really hopeful that this weekend we can have more of a fight." STORY: Mercedes' Britsh driver Lewis Hamilton said on Thursday (September 13) that consistency has helped him and the team be ahead of the competition so far this season.

Hamilton was speaking at an event in Singapore ahead of the city state's night Grand Prix over the weekend.

In the last three of his four Formula One title wins, Hamilton has returned from the annual summer break in brilliant form, reeling off a succession of victories to close the door on his title rivals.

Despite the Briton finishing second in Belgium and first in Italy since the season resumed in August, there is a general belief that Sebastian Vettel's Ferrari is a faster car and Sunday's (September 16) race should once again favour the German.
