85 percent..thats the increase in opiod related deaths in lousiana since 2014.

This is one of many scary statistics that the state is hoping to latest digital system.

According to dr. joseph kanter, the opiode epidemic does not discriminate here in louisana.in many parishes, more opioide perscriptions are written every year per individuals in that parish.

With a new opioid data and surveillance system, the louisana department of health administrator and health director says, they want to tackle this epidemic head on.

You can't improve what you cant measure and you can't improve what you can't see.

This new tool allows regular folks áand public-health professionals to do both.they can look at emergency department visits, they can look at overdose deaths, they can look at the number of perscriptions written.the tool allows you to search for information, both past and present, about any area in the state.it's going to help me council people, and give a real concrete picture of what i mean on the risks of opiods.

Anyone can use or access this digital system.we want our response to the opiode crisis to be data driven and this portal is how we are going to do that.
