Online library documents history of Upper Mississippi
Upper mississippi river scientists and uw-la crosse librarians are teaming up to build a new online library all about the natural resources of the mississippi river.
The collection includes letters, research, maps and even raw data.
Some materials are more than 100 years old.
Uwl murphy library staff are still scanning materials brought to the library in a truckload last august.
" it's a long term collection.
To date, we've been working on it since late last summer and we have over 26,000 pages of material that are online, freely available, full-text searchable and we did that using this machine to create the content itself."
The newly digitized library makes upper mississippi reports available worldwide just in time to celebrate the upper mississippi river conservation committee's 75th anniversary this month.
