A local teen is spending his easter weekend wrapping up an eagle scout project at a church in north hampton county.
He says it's extra meaningful for him because he's taking on something his grandfather started more than 50 years ago.
Wfmz is irene snyder has the story.
>>for 17 year-old jonathan miller, it's been nearly a year of plastering hammering and laying down cement.
Jonathan's a lifelong member of holy cross lutheran church in hanover township.
So when it came time to choose an eagle scout project he knew what he wanted to do.
I was working church cleanups here.
>>doing other things and there wasn't lack of storage and what not so.
And it was tough to get the more south 2 because it was only a single base so i wanted to expand in 2016 jonathan laid out the blueprints and started surveying the area.
>>alongside its boy scout mentor his father and his grandfather who built the original shed more than 50 years ago.
I think it was really cool that he built the.
>>the original and i thought it would be a really cool idea too expand on it with him here you know everybody else on problem ut's he's done a wonderful job.
>>expanded church said now includes a porch and extra garage bay and an attic be able to get you know more mowers in here to get stuff upstairs, one of jonathan's favorite features are these barn door that he did find himself in the shade look right going to be used to haul up they can quit meant instead of trying to patch things up a set of attic stairs that you would pull down.
It's a larger opening that they can just pass things up from down on the ground.
All that's left is a few finishing touches and approval by the boy scouts jonathan's family says they couldn't be prouder it was his drive he really had a goal.
>>and he went for and i'm really proud of
