Text messaging seems to have become a permanent part of American communication practices.

Unfortunately, many Americans are texting while driving--often leading to dangerous car accidents.

According to Digital Trends, car insurance companies have taken notice, and their penalties for texting and talking while driving include massive insurance premium increases.

From 2011 to 2018, the average U.S. insurance penalty for distracted driving rose from $2 to $290, a 9,750% increase.
