Firefighters Resuscitate Kitten Saved From Drain Pipe in New South Wales
Firefighters pulled a kitten from a storm pipe in Wee Waa, New South Wales, on May 10 and, when it was found not to be breathing, performed CPR and applied an oxygen mask, resuscitating the cat, according to Fire and Rescue New South Wales.
“As you can see in the video from the time we had started resuscitating the kitten, it only took one and a half minutes for the kitten to be breathing again,” the fire service said.
“We dried the kitten and wrapped [it] in one of our jackets and made a trip to the vets for it to be checked over.” The kitten was named drainO, and found a new owner in the form of local man Clancy Hamilton, the fire service said.
It was the second time in two days that the Wee Waa firefighters rescued a cat from a drain pipe.
