Democratic Lawmakers Turn To Lawyers On How To Enforce Subpoena For Trump Taxes

According to a report by Reuters, on Friday, US House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal said that he was consulting with counsel on how best to enforce his subpoena for President Donald Trump's tax returns after Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin rejected his demand.

Neal reportedly said in a statement, "Given the Treasury Secretary’s failure to comply today, I am consulting with counsel on how best to enforce the subpoenas moving forward." Reuters reports that Mnuchin claimed the panel lacks “a legitimate legislative purpose” for obtaining the tax records that Democrats view as critical to their efforts to investigate Trump and his presidency.
