Warriors weekend 2019 hosted over 600 military heroes for a weekend of fun south texas style, including a day of fishing, good food, and relaxation.
Nats while mingling through the crowd along the docks at froggies bait camp, i caught up with army veterans maritka sutton and phyllis keys, as they eagerly awaited to catch a boat.
Sutton spent 12 years in the army reserve, which she considered an honor.
"you get to take care of everybody, you get to take care of your buddies, you get to see the world" this was also phyllis keys first trip to warriors weekend, and upon arriving in south texas, she was immediately impressed with the warm texas hospitality.
"feel really welcome, the escort and the people waving and cheering us...its awesome."
Windy conditions, rough bay waters, and the threat of storms kept many boaters away, but that did not dampen the sprits of the crowd.
As martika and phyllis waited to see if they would be able to do some fishing, as they reflected on their warriors weekend experience, martika sutton summed it up with these words.... sot full "it was beautiful...beautiful" this is trey meynig reporting for your hometown news.
