Crews Fight Wildfires in Alberta's Slave Lake Forest Area

Fire crews, including “firefighters, aircraft and heavy equipment,” fought two wildfires in Alberta’s Slave Lake Forest Area on May 18, according to Alberta Wildfire.

In the initial report on May 18, fire officials said SWF049 encompassed 251 hectares and SWF050 covered 50.

As of Monday, May 20, SWF049 had expanded to 15,000 hectares, and SWF050 grew to 1,040, according to Alberta Wildfire’s fire status map.

This video shows charred trees and vegetation, smoke, and fire crews, including a truck from the town of Wabasca-Desmarais.
