VIDEO SHOWS: ENGLAND CRICKET CAPTAIN, EOIN MORGAN, SPEAKING AT NEWS CONFERENCE AFTER DEFEAT OF BANGLADESH IN WORLD CUP SHOWS: CARDIFF, WALES, UK (JUNE 8, 2019) (ICC - NO RESALES) 1.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) ENGLAND CAPTAIN, EOIN MORGAN, SAYING: "It was probably an improvement on the other day right throughout the whole game, right from the start, the solid platform that we started with, obviously a change to the other day when we continued to lose wickets against Pakistan.

And today that opening stand really did lay a solid platform.

I don't think it was that easy up front, I don't think the ball came onto the bat a lot.

The first four or five overs proved that, we didn't really go anywhere, we tried to score runs but we didn't go anywhere, but I thought Jason (Roy) and Jonny (Bairstow) were outstanding.

They assessed conditions well, waited for the bad ball, waited for to impose themselves on the innings and 128 is a considerable stand at the top of the order." 2.

WHITE FLASH 3.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) ENGLAND CAPTAIN, EOIN MORGAN, SAYING: "To be honest, it's a luxury.

Probably, particularly you guys more than anybody and people in the general support of cricket, our fans talk about scoring hundreds, he's an exception to the rule that just goes on and gets big scores and it can range from 140 to 180 and the rate he gets it at just is so difficult to defend.

He scores all the way around the ground.

He takes really good bowlers down as well.

He hits good balls for boundaries so he's great to have in the side particularly when he's in this form." STORY: England captain Eoin Morgan hailed an "intimidating" Jason Roy after the opening batsman's 153 fired England to victory over Bangladesh in their third World Cup match in Cardiff on Saturday (June 8).

Roy failed to reach double figures as World Cup favourites England suffered a surprise defeat to Pakistan last time out, but the 28-year-old was in imperious form to put England on course for their highest ever World Cup batting total and a 106-run victory over Bangladesh.

His 150 was brought up with three successive sixes as Roy upped the ante, and captain Morgan highlighted just how important Roy is in the England set-up.

Roy feels his partnership with fellow opener Jonny Bairstow, who alongside Roy put on the second century opening partnership of the World Cup, has been strong long before the World Cup began.

Morgan was also full of praise for his side's bowling attack, with the hostile Jofra Archer, who took 3-30, in particular attracting attention once more.
