Dramatic Rescue of Kidnapped Baby Near Birmingham Shown in Police Video
West Midlands Police have released footage showing the moment a baby kidnapped from his home in Birmingham, England, was rescued on April 4 by officers after they intercepted his abductor’s car near Solihull, south-east of the city.
Police said James Dempsey, 35, kidnapped the five-year-old boy from his home in Sutton Coldfield on the morning of April 3.
Dempsey was known to the boy’s mother, Chantelle Forrester, and had stayed in the house overnight before leaving with the child in the morning.
The footage was released after Dempsey appeared in court on June 13.
He was jailed for 27 months after admitting to “child abduction, failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, theft and motoring offences,” police said.
According to police, Chantelle Forrester said she would be forever grateful to the officers who brought her child home, adding, “He was gone for about 36 hours but it felt like a lifetime.” Credit: West Midlands Police via Storyful
