A witness reported his vehicle crossing the center line repeatedly along Coastal Highway in Ocean City early Friday morning, and when he spotted the police lights behind him, Todd Pivec took off, striking a car in the back before hitting a telephone pole.

WMAR 2 NEWS' JEHAGER HAS MORE ON THE CRASH.(HAGER S━UP) THE SUSPECT INTHIS CASE, 4━ YEA━OLD TODDPIVEC OF COCKEYSVILLE IS BEINGHELD WITHOUT BOND AFTERSOMEHOW AVOIDING ANY LENGTHYJAIL TIME AFTER A MULTITUDE OFPREVIOUS ARRESTS FOR DRINKINGAND DRIVING.

(TRACK) A WITNESSREPORTED HIS VEHICLE CROSSINGTHE CENTER LINE REPEATEDLYALONG COASTAL HIGHWAY IN OCEANCITY EARLY FRIDAY MORNING, ANDWHEN HE SPOTTED THE POLICELIGHTS BEHIND HIM, TODD PIVECTOOK OFF... STRIKING A CAR INTHE BACK BEFORE HITTING ATELEPHONE POLE.

THAT CAR HESTRUCK, A TOYOTA COROLLA,BURST INTO FLAMES KILLING A5━YEA━ OLD MAN IN THEPROCESS.

REACHED BY TELEPHONEWHILE ON VACATION IN OCEANCITY, MARYLAND'S DIRECTOR OFMOTHERS AGAINST DRUNK DRIVING,LISA SPICKNALL, SAYS SHE'SOUTRAGED.

EVENTHOUGH HIS DRIVERS LICENSE HADBEEN SUSPENDED AND CARRIED AREQUIREMENT FOR AN IGNITIONINTERLOCK DEVICE, WHICH WASNOT PRESENT.

WHILE NODRINKIN━RELATED CHARGES CAMEOUT OF THAT INCIDENT, IT ADDSTO THE PICTURE OF A MAN WHOHAS SHOWN LITTLE CONTROL WHENIT COMES TO DRINKING ORDRIVING LEADING UP TO THEFATAL ACCIDENT.
