MOORE RECEIVING HER TROPHY AND A BUNCH OF FLOWERS STORY: Defending world champions Carissa Moore of Hawaii and Brazilian Gabriel Medina took the honours in the sixth round of the World Surf League Championship Tour at Jeffreys Bay in South Africa on Friday (July 19).
For both surfers it was their first win in South Africa and also their first victories of the season.
Moore beat American Lakey Peterson in the final and now leads the championship with Australians Sally Fitzgibbons and Stephanie Gilmore second and third respectively.
Medina's win was the 13th of his career and marked the first time this season he had progressed past the quarter finals.
He defeated compatriot Italo Ferreira in the final, moving him up to seventh place in the title race, led by Kolohe Andino of the United States.
