Hunter petroviak.thanks for joining us.it's going to cost more to rent a hotel room in fort wayne.allen county council raised the innkeepers tax by one percent.fox 55's cody butler has more on what this means.

It will now cost about an extra 75 cents a night to stay in a fort wayne hotel ... paid by people visiting the region.

Allen county council raised the innkeepers takes to 8 percent this morning.the money will go to groups promoting tourism ... like visit fort wayne.

Events like the n-c-double-a men's basketball division three finals.and the u-s paralypics goal ball and jitzu qualifiers at turnstone.

Mike mushett is the ceo for turnstone ... which hosts sporting tournaments for people with disabilities all the time.this year ... it hosted the paralypic qualifiers.

County council was able to raise the tax thanks to a new state law addressing the innkeepers tax in allen and a handful of other counties.in fort wayne ... cody butler ... fox 55 news.
