Madison police say according to the dept.
Of justice they don't pose a threat and are generally protected free speech unless you feel targeted.
Then... you should report it.
But otherwise, they say to not acknowledge them.
But the dane county sheriffs office is handling these flyers a bit differently.

3:16 this should be unacceptable to everybody in our community.
Some say it's free speech.
Well it's hateful free speechit's hateful speech that leads to potential violence, to people feeling less safe.
Everyone should be taking this seriously."
The flyers have been found along north fair oaks, in the town of blooming grove, cottage grove and albion.
Most people reporting they're being thrown on their driveways like newspapers...in plastic bags, being weighed down by tiny rocks.
4:36 if this is meant as an intent to intimidate or spread hate in our community, there are repercussions and there will be."
Madison police say these flyers are distateful and disgusting.
But that unls you feel targeted, these flyers don't seem to pose a threat and are generally protected speech.
6:11 we uphold the right of people to have freedom of speech but were also concerned when it is used as a means of intimidating and fear mongering."
The sheriffs depament is asking those who see the flyers near their homes to report it.
And if you have home surveillance cameras like the ring doorbell system... 2:53 "that's always a tool we can look to as part of our investigation" if you find one of these flyers... police are encouraging people not to share photos of them on social media... so they don't get any more publicity than they already have.
