Richard pepper was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia or a-m-l.
It's an aggressive form of blood cancer.
No richard two line richard says: "i said if it's my time to go it's my time to go.
But i prayed that i'd be around because i think i still have some good to do on this earth so i wanted to be here a little longer."
Butted richard says: "i could either get the treatments or die in 6 weeks and it was a no brainer."
That meant he needed a stem cell transplant.
But first he needed to find a donor.
Thanks to the organization called gift of life marrow registry, he was able to find a perfect match.

Phoner jay says: "it was something that to me was life."
Richard says: "it restores your faith in humanity that there are poeple out there that will take the time to do this knowing that it can help somebody stay alive.
It's a special thing it's been one year, nine months and 15 days since pepper got the transplant.
Andryanna says: "pepper got on a plane for the first time since he began treatment today.
He's left ashland to meet his new jersey donor for the first time in la," nat the two hugging and meeting no two line richard says: "i can't thank him enough.
I'm elated and overjoyed."
No two line richard says: "i've got part of him in me and there's a bond just by that.
When pepper hits the two year mark, he'll be able to go outside and live life a little more.
He wishes he could return the favor for other people but he's not sure he can.
As for his donor, he says he'd happily donate again.
Phoner jay says: "it was so easy and it could have a big impact on somebody's life.
An impact on their life."
Richard says: "i would tell people if they're ever diagnosed with this, don't give up."
